Dear Parents and Fellow Educators:
Welcome to one of the many outstanding programs provided to students in Hickman Mills C-1 School District.
Contrary to what many people believe, exceptional minds cannot necessarily excel without assistance. High ability students need to broaden their academic horizons. However, of greater importance may be the need to provide support through understanding, acceptance, and encouragement.
At specified times each year, the selection process begins for each program by formulating a pool of potential students who will then proceed through a step-by-step admission procedure. Nominations for the screening pool are located at each school in the counseling office. Parents/teachers should complete and return forms by the designated deadline. Upon receiving the forms each student will be tested. Students who sucessfully meet all the qualifying standards will be elegible for entry into either CODE, PEP or ACE.
No gifted individual is exactly the same, each with his own unique patterns and traits. There are many traits that gifted individuals have in common, but no gifted learner exhibits traits in every area. This list of traits may help you better understand whether or not your child is gifted.
